Creature concept for a small project on dA. It’s like a rat mutant. Ick. Not what I had in mind.

City Lights
One of the most romantic moments from one of the most romantic movies ever. AND I CAN’T FIND THE DVD FOR SALE ANYWHERE. I’ve never wanted a movie this bad before. This is so tragic I could just die.

Self Portrait WIP
A WIP of this. My first time drawing a person in graphites! Aww I wish I had this outfit. And lived in the roaring twenties. Damn.

BURN DOWN DALLAS
Can be viewed on my dA page. The following is a brief walk-through of how I created this: Rough (and very inaccurate) sketch of Dallas using refs: Cue angry Night Wyvern dragon: Ready for paint: Base paint for the main buildings & adding in more inky black smoke: Reworking the smoke, trying to give it more depth: Adding hazy backdrop smoke and reworking the...

Regarding Artistic Criticism,
“I’ve never in all my life pleased everyone. As a matter of fact, I don’t know of anything that has ever completely pleased me. I enjoy criticism in pretty much the same way that I do praise. It depends on the criticism and the praise—the intelligence, the perception, the understanding that goes into it. Either can be dull, and either can be heartwarming.” ...

OH MY GOD JARED
By the perfectly amazing Sami! <3333 I got this in the mail today! In all the years I’ve been an artist & active on the dA art community, this is the first time someone has mailed ME art. Omg you’re so sweet I could die. Holy shit. I don’t know the correct reaction to this much excitement. Omg I love you so much & Charlie Chaplin’s “The Great...

Beauty from chaos
Random page from my moleskine. Blurbs and doodles referring to the entity Simkaye. I’ve been going through my older and unfinished work and noticed a particular lack of imagination. My originality has been stifled throughout the years from stress and the critical comments of others. Reality has muffled some of the best I had to offer. What happened to the inner child that used to be so...

Watercolour doodle before bed
I don’t draw monsters & beasties anymore! We’ll have to fix that. The faded words are part of an excerpt from one of my poems: What Stays Locked:   Could you see what I have seen, Should I grant you the key? Give no judgment for the queen, And hold no hate for me?   No fear bestowed for the lock, And with no prying glean. Hand to me no soul to mock, Where much more pain may...

Self portrait
I have a headache from working on this for so long. Do you know how hard it is to legitimately research accurate 1920s-1930s fashion? Worth it, I fucking LOVE men’s clothing from that period. Anyway WIP. I can’t begin to say how personal and meaningful this piece is for me.

WhaleSong
A Sky Whale drifting in lazy circles overhead. Probably singing to itself. Just needed to try doodling one at a different angle.

Diving Sky Whale
Working on the etsa species made me want to revisit my humpback-based Sky Whales. Or, as they are more simply put in the Sky Whale universe, Song Whales. I need to paint one of these guys at night so I can show off their bio-luminescent underbellies.

Etsa Species Concept
First draft of these massive glider-squirrel beasts. The etsa & their riders are from the same world as my Sky Whales ([link] [link]) A bit about them: Typically grey or red colouration, black is very unusual, white is practically unheard of. Don’t do well in the open. Native to ancient forests. Riders communicate with their etsa primarily with a clicker (much like Morse code)...
